The 18mm photoelectric proximity sensor ise light sensitive elements to detect objects and are made up of an emitter (light source) and a receiver. They are usually low-cost with LED function indicators. They are also short circuit and reverse polarity protected. They could be NPN/PNP programmable. Some them come with sensitivity adjustment.
